Original Western Sports Special limited production Challenger (see data provided from tag). Challenger has bucket seats and console plus rare rim blow steering wheel plus all options that form part of WSS package. Engine runs strong, car shifts and has brakes but front suspension needs work. Has original 14 inch Ralley wheels and all original body panels. Needs rust repair to trunk floor, top of rear window and bottom of doors - all rust repair is minor except trunk repair. Inside floors are good (see photo). Challenger has new correct seat upholstery redone in black with new seat foam.

Good Challenger at a reasonable price.

The following is a code option breakdown:

N95 = Emissions control fitted (a CA car)
V1W = White vinyl top
V5X = Black longitudinal body strips
Y16 = Sales bank purchase
End = End of tag (they read from bottom to top)

G?34 = OS LH Remote racing mirror ( Hard to read. If the code is C34, it's a
front seat shield option)
J25 = 3 speed wipers
L31 = Hood/Fender mounted turn signals
M21 = Roof drip rail moldings
M25 = Wide sill moldings
M31 = Belt Moldings
V1W = White Vinyl top
A01 = Light package
A63 = Challenger Molding group
A91 = Western Sport Special (quite a rare option. My info tells me only 145 slant 6 challengers were optioned with it in 1970).  The name 'Western Sport Special' first appeared on 1969 Dodge Darts. In 1970 it was a version of the base Challenger with a package of options at a discounted price. It was released mid-Dec.1969 to the Los Angeles and San Francisco regions and all were built at the LA plant.
The fender tag option code for the WSS is A91 and the package cost was just $199.50.
It consisted of:

  • Western Sport Special Decals - the only item exclusive to these cars (see original-decal picture)
  • Vinyl Roof
  • Wood Grain Instrument Panel applique w/standard dash
  • Remote Control Driver Side Mirror
  • Rim Blow Steering Wheel
  • Sill Moldings
  • Belt and Cowl Moldings
  • Front Splash Pan Scoop Molding
  • F78x14 White Wall Tires
  • Rear Astrotone Painted Taillight Panel
  • Pedal Dress-Up
  • Bumper Guards (Front and Rear)
  • Rallye Wheels

C16 = Console w/woodgrain panel
C55 = Bucket Seats
FT6 = Dark tan metallic exterior paint
H6T5 = Tan interior trim
000  = Not sure about this one. I'll get back to you, but I think it refers
to no hood treatment (i.e. no badges, paintwork, etc)
504  = Manufacture date: 5th April
162624 = Production sequence number
E24 = 225 slant 6, 1 barrel, 145hp
D31 = A904 3 Speed Auto trans
